Five of our seven 2006 releases are now sold out at the winery. Cabernet Franc is very difficult to find in our retail outlets, and the Syrah will be the next to disappear. Kinkead Ridge featured in "C" magazine (What to Wear, Where to Go, Where to Be in Columbus). 2007 Valchemy Chef Richard Rosendale paired Kinkead Ridge 2004 Cabernet Franc with Braised Oxtails with Boursin Polenta. 2006 American Wine Society Competition, November 8-9, Baltimore Maryland, 695 medals awarded to over 1000 entries from all over the world.

We entered four wines and garnered four medals.

DOUBLE GOLD. 2004 Kinkead Ridge Cabernet Franc. Double Gold means every one of the six judges gave the wine a Gold Rating. Only two vinifera wines received this extraordinary recognition. 
SILVER. 2004 Kinkead Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon.
BRONZE. 2004 Kinkead Ridge Syrah
BRONZE: 2005 Kinkead Ridge Viognier/Roussanne

Kinkead Ridge recognized for the third consecutive year in the Wine Report 2007, edited by British Wine Writer Tom Stevenson (editor New Sotheby's Wine Encyclopedia). 

In 2006, our Viognier/Roussanne was rated one of the Top 100 Exciting Wine Finds in the World, we were #4 Up and Coming Producers Atlantic Northeast.

In this 2007 follow-on, our 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon is rated #2 (OF 10) Most Unusual or Exciting Finds, and #2 (of 10) Fastest-Improving Producers, the follow-on category to Up and Coming. We're honored. The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon is sold out at the winery. The 2004 is even better.

ANNUAL BARREL TASTING / November 25

The winery is all gussied up for Christmas, and thanks to everyone who came to the annual barrel tasting! People were especially excited about the September 2007 release of 50 cases of Petit Verdot.

The Hocking College Gala Dinner and Wine Auction, guest chefs FREDERICK GAYLE, Executive Chef at Half Moon Rosehall Jamaica, and a professional career including Ritz-Carlton, Jamaica, Hyatt Regency, Columbus and Hyatt Regency, Kansas City, and IVANO POLLINI, President of Collegio Mellezio Rosmini in Domodossola, and a professional career including stints at Paul Bocuse, France, Mosimens, London and Antica Osteria del Teatro, Piacenza.

Kinkead Ridge 2004 Syrah was poured with the honey glazed herb crusted Colorado Lamb rack, roasted butternut squash ravioli, wild mushroom ragout, green asparagus spears, baby carrots, popcorn shoots on port reduction. and it was a match made in heaven. The gift bags for the guests were Kinkead Ridge 2004 Cabernet Franc. The owners, Ron Barrett and Nancy Bentley personally donated a case of autographed wine, and a gift basket with a private vineyard tour and dinner for 12 for the auction.

We had the great pleasure of having Chief Videographer Richard Nordstrom (www.thinktv.org) from ThinkTV, Dayton, film the last harvest of 2006 for a special PBS program to be broadcast the weekend of January 27. Details to follow. 

Richard filmed the harvest and crush of the Petit Verdot. The day started out foggy and cold and morphed into one of those perfect harvest days, a rare beast this rainy year.
